Accept History
Accept is a German heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Düsseldorf. They are widely regarded as pioneers of the heavy metal genre and contributed significantly to the development of power metal. The band originally consisted of vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, lead guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, rhythm guitarist Peter Baltes, bassist Frank Friedrich, and drummer Jörg Fischer. Accept gained commercial success in the 1980s with albums like 'Breaker' (1981) and 'Restless and Wild' (1982), which featured their iconic 'Fast as a Shark', often credited as one of the first speed metal songs. Their electrifying live performances during this era were notable for their energetic presence and powerful sound, establishing a loyal fanbase around Europe and beyond.
After a brief disbandment in the early '90s, Accept reunited in 2005, bringing back their classic sound while also incorporating modern elements into their music.
