    Periphery History

Periphery is an American progressive metal band formed in 2005 in Washington, D.C. The band is often credited as one of the pioneers of the djent subgenre, which is characterized by its heavy, syncopated guitar riffs and complex rhythms. The original lineup consisted of guitarists Misha Mansoor and Alex Bois, bassist Tom Murphy, drummer Matt Halpern, and vocalist Spencer Sotelo. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2010, which showcased their unique sound and complex musical structures. Over the years, Periphery has released several critically acclaimed albums, including 'Periphery II: This Time It's Personal' (2012) and 'Juggernaut: Alpha' and 'Juggernaut: Omega' (2015). The band is known for their energetic live performances, which often feature intricate musicianship and engaging stage presence. Their concerts have garnered a dedicated fan base, and they have toured extensively across North America, Europe, and other parts of the world, sharing the stage with many prominent bands in the metal genre. As their music evolved, so did their live shows, incorporating more visual elements and a dynamic approach to setlists, often including a mix of older tracks and newer material to cater to their diverse audience.
