Old Dominion are trying to take country music where it has never gone before. Their quest to disturb the genre’s established order is borne out of the confidence they have developed as a band over the years.
The band has been on a roll of late. Not only have they evolved over the years but they have also gone on to perform with some big names. Old Dominion’s albums are similar yet so different at the same time. At the heart of both records is the feel-good vibe that has become their staple but their second album is more diverse in nature.
They are now about to hit the road once again. Not only will they be going on their own tour, but they will also team up with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Brandon Lay and Thomas Rhett this year. They will also take the stage at events like the Crawfish Music Festival, the 2018 Country Megaticket and Tailgate N Tallboys Music Festival. So, book your Old Dominion tickets and get ready to celebrate country music, live.
Old Dominion consists of Brad Tursi, Matthew Ramsey, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung and Trevor Rosen. The five of them came together initially to showcase their songwriting abilities. All five members of the group had been writing for other stars and for different television series.
Rosen and Ramsey then penned down two songs for the band. The tracks were titled Say You Do and Wake Up Lovin’ You’. Dierks Bentley covered the former track while Craig Morgan covered the latter. Both songs became major hits and Old Dominion then released the song Dirt on a Road which became their first track to get a lot of airtime.
Old Dominion then came out with a self-titled EP on October 7, 2014. It went to the thirty third position on the Top Country Albums chart on debut. The lead track from the record was titled Shut Me Up. Break Up with Him was another song from the EP and it received quite a lot of airplay on the radio channel “The Highway” on Sirius XM Radio in the latter part of 2014.
The Studio Albums
Old Dominion then signed with RCA Nashville in February of 2015 and then went on Kenny Chesney’s Big Revival Tour as an opening act. They released their first album “Meat and Candy” on November 6, 2015 and it went on to peak at the third spot on the US Top Country Albums chart. It also climbed to the sixteenth position on the US Billboard 200. Meat and Candy was certified gold in the US.
The song Break Up with Him was re-released as part of the album. It was then released as the second track from the EP for radio in January of 2015. The song turned out to be a big hit that peaked at the number one position on the US Country Airplay chart. It also went to the third position on the US Hot Country Songs. It was also certified platinum in both the US and Canada.
Snapback was released as the second single from the album and it climbed to the second spot on the US Country Airplay charts and to the fourth spot on the U Hot Country Songs chart. It also went platinum in the US and Canada.
Old Dominion’s second studio album “Happy Endings” hit the music stores on August 25, 2017 and it went straight to the number one spot on the Top Country Albums chart on its debut. It also went as high as the seventh position on the US Billboard 200.
