History

The National Basketball Association commonly referred to as the NBA is a professional basketball league for men. It is located in North America. 29 out of the 30 teams that play in the NBA are located in the United States. One team is located in Canada, the Toronto Raptors are the only NBA located outside of the US.

The league was not always called the NBA previously it was known as the BAA which stands for Basketball Association of America. It was founded in New York citing in 1946.
