There’s no lover greater than that of a mother to a son, so the pain that this mother faces, even twenty years after her son’s death, is palpable. This emotional rollercoaster of a Broadway production opens in March 2014.
This unique story brings together a mother who lost her son and the son’s former lover. If that wasn’t interesting enough, the former lover is married with kids, making this reunion both emotional and awkward. Through the support of her husband and children, the former lover and mother dive deep into an imaginary world of what-if’s and could have’s that might have occurred if things went differently twenty years ago.
Tyne Daly is masterful in her lead role as Katharine, the mother who lost her son twenty years earlier. Her face is recognizable to Broadway and TV fans alike as she holds a Tony Award along with six Emmy Award Wins. Bobby Steggert and Frederick Wells round out the super talented cast, led by director Sheryl Kaller. Written by Terrence McNally, Mothers and Sons is a must see on Broadway this year!
