About Melissa Etheridge
Melissa Etheridge is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is popular for her work in the folk and country rock music genres. She initially gained popularity the release of her self-titled debut album in 1988. The album was well-received, and charted as high as #22 on the Billboard 200. The lead single of the album, Bring Me Some Water earned Melissa her first Emmy Award nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Female.
After enjoying this initial success, the year of 1993 completely changed the trajectory of Melissa Etheridge’s career. The year started with the release of the hit single Ain’t It Heavy, which earned her first of Emmy Awards. Later that year, the album Yes I Am was released and ended up being the catalyst that took her career to the next level. The album went platinum six times and contained two singles that charted on the Billboard Top 30 Singles Chart; I’m The Only One and Come to my Window.
