John Marty Stuart is a Country singer and songwriter. He was born on September 30, 1958. He is most known for his traditional style. He is also known for his ability to merge rock, honky tonk, and country. He was a country star in the 1990s.
Stuart began performing at the age of 12 with The Sullivan Family. Later he was invited to play with the Nashville Grass by Roland White. They played at a gig on Labor Day in Delaware. After the gig White asked Stuart to join the band as a permanent member. Stuart accepted White’s offer and joined Nashville Grass.
70's, 80's, and 90's
In 1979 Stuart made his first solo album With a Little Help From My Friends. The early 1980’s he joined Johnny Cash’s backing band. He later married Cash’s daughter in 1983. In 1985 he left Cash’s backing band to pursue a solo career. Then in 1988, he went through divorce.
In the 1990s Stuart’s career began to grow. His contract with Columbia Records signed in 1985 helped him reach a hit on the top 20 of the US Billboard’s Country charts. In 1997, he married Connie Smith.
