Upon the completion of its construction in 2012, Marlins Park replaced the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens as the Miami Marlins home stadium. The stadium is located at the Orange Bowl site, a field with a long history of events that began in 1935. Football games, soccer games, and baseball games have been played on the historic Orange Bowl site. Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Madonna, Prince, and the Rolling Stones are just a few of the famous performers who have performed at Marlins Park. Grab some Marlins tickets, your friends and family, and enjoy one of America's greatest past-times in this one of a kind stadium.
In honor of the Orange Bowl siteâÂÂs history, Marlins Park features public benches made from the original seats of the Miami Orange Bowl at Bobby Maduro Drive (NW 5th Street) and Marlins Way (NW 16th Avenue) and an art piece by David Arsham named âÂÂOrange Bowl Tributeâ in the East Plaza. The piece represents the final resting places of the letters of the previous facilityâÂÂs sign. After every Marlins home run, Home Run Sculpture is visible in Left-Center Field. ?Today, Marlins Park is primarily a baseball stadium, but the facility is also used for other sporting and private events. During the winter months and baseball off-season, Marlins Park is used as the site of soccer matches. The Miami Beach Bowl, an NCAA college football game, also takes place at Marlins Park.
?To avoid cancellations and inconveniences due to FloridaâÂÂs weather and to increase the enjoyment of Marlins fans, Marlins Park employs a retractable roof. The retractable roof spans the length of nearly two football fields and covers 338,000 square feet of space. Opening and closing the roof is also extremely energy efficient, allowing the natural elements to reduce the amount of energy required; as a result, the cost of operating the retractable roof is only $10.
