The Backdrop

The Life in Color Festival and the concert tours trace their roots back to the year 2006. Four friends Patryk Tracz, Lukasz Tracz, Paul Campbell and Sebastian Solano used to share an apartment at the Florida State University. They started off by throwing parties almost every month and even used to bring in DJ Climax to play the music.

Those parties began to gain a lot of attention and soon the four of them began to call themselves “Committee Entertainment” and began their journey as party planners. Since they were big fans of EDM, different clubs began to hire them to bring parties to those venues.

Solano then found out about “Dayglow,” an informal paint party that used to take place at FSU. Hundreds of college students would turn up to these parties and throw paint at each other. Committee Entertainment then registered Dayglow’s trademark. The inaugural edition of the Dayglow took place at Allure, a nightclub in Miami which was attended by approximately six hundred fans.

They began to take Dayglow parties to different cities in the state of Florida and it did not take long for the tour to make its mark. The road trip then moved out of Florida and into bigger arenas. Paintball and music were right at the center of everything that was so great about Dayglow tours and the management even came up with custom-built guns and cannons for their shows. Dayglow had become so big that it was soon bought by SFX Entertainment in the year 2011. In 2012, Dayglow’s name was changed to Life in Color.

Life in Color

The 2013 road trip was named “Life in Color Rebirth” and it went to more than twenty five countries. The list of DJs that used to headline those parties included names like R3hab, Chuckie, Benny Benassi, Alesso, Axwell and Afrojack.

August 7, 2013, was a big day for Life in Color for that was the date when the management announced that the Life in Color Festival will take place at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami in December of the same year. The announcement was made on the day the final of the International Champions Cup was to take place.

The game was to be played at the Sun Life Stadium too. The pre-game show was headlined by R3hab whereas David Solano performed during the halftime. Since the game was televised nationally, they became the first EDM band in history to headline a nationally televised halftime show in all of North America.

The Miami leg of the tour became Life in Color’s flagship show and the first edition was attended by over twenty thousand fans. In 2014, the tour was named “Unleash” and it made its return to the International Champions Cup that year, with Martin Garrix performing the halftime show.

The 2014 edition of Life in Color Festival was a two day long event and it featured names such as Madeon, Nervo, The Chainsmokers and Adventure Club among other big names. In 2016, the festival became a one day long event and it was held in the month of January unlike the previous shows that took place in December. Fans got to see stars such as Big Sean, Zeds Dead, Flosstradamus, Steve Aoki and Jack U as the main acts.
