About Lauren Daigle

Lauren Ashley Daigle, professionally known as Lauren Daigle, was born on September 9, 1991 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Daigle grew up with faith and music having a very strong influence on her life. When she was fifteen years old she was diagnosed with a serious case of infectious mononucleosis. This forced her to be homeschooled for two years and she had to spend much of her time in solidarity. During this time, Daigle turned to music as an outlet and coping mechanism. She sang at her local church and was able to spend countless hours practicing and writing music. Once she was healthy again she attended a charter school and graduated early. Following receiving her diploma, Daigle traveled to Brazil to do mission work. When she returned she enrolled at Louisiana State University to study Child and Family Studies.

While Daigle was attending college, she tried out for American Idol in 2010 and 2012. For the 2010 audition, she was cut before the final 24 contestants. Then in 2012, Daigle made it through the Hollywood round but was cut in the first round of Las Vegas. Although Daigle did not make it very far in the contest, the experience taught her valuable lessons. She continued to work on her original music and her singing voice. Daigle was still in school when she was approached by a local band who asked her to help with vocals. Daigle agreed and the resulting project was an EP that was to be sent over to Centricity Music. Centricity was extremely impressed with Daigle’s voice and in 2013 she was signed as a solo artist.Daigle’s first single with Centricity Music was “Light of the World” and was featured on an album that was a collection of holiday songs from Centricity artists. This allowed Daigle to garner an initial fan base. Following her debut single, she released a five song EP titled How Can It Be in 2014. The EP was an instant hit, so Daigle along with Centricity expanded the EP to a full-length studio album. The album was also titled How Can It Be and was released on April 14, 2015. Daigle’s debut studio album was a success. The album peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and number 28 on the Billboard 200. There were five singles featured on the album, all of which ranked in the top ten on the Hot Christian Songs chart. Since its release, the album has become certified Platinum by the RIAA. How Can It Be was nominated at the Grammy Awards in 2016 for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. The album won Top Christian Album at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards and Lauren Daigle herself won Top Christian Artist.

Since Daigle’s breakthrough success she has not released a new album but that is about to change. On July 13, 2018, Daigle released the lead single, “You Say”, for her upcoming album. She announced her second studio album will be called Look Up Child and is set to be released on September 7, 2018. In promotion of her album, Daigle will be embarking on her first headlining theatre tour this fall. The tour will kick off on September 27th at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio. Daigle will be making stops at venues across America, finishing up on October 28th at Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, Mississippi.
