About Ken Jeong
Ken Jeong is an American comedian, actor, and medical doctor. He is best known for his roles in The Hangover film series, the sitcom Community, and as a panelist on The Masked Singer. Raised in North Carolina, Ken Jeong attended Duke University as an undergraduate, and later received his Doctor in Medicine from the University of North Carolina. During his educational years he was a regular attendee of open-microphone comedy nights at clubs and bars in North Carolina. Multiple individuals encouraged him to pursue a career in comedy, rather than as a doctor. These words of encouragement led Ken Jeong to move to Los Angeles. While trying to establish himself in the entertainment industry, he practiced medicine in California, and remains a licensed physician to this day.
During these early days in the industry Jeong continued to perform stand up comedy, opening for various comics including Jeff Dunham, and eventually landed a few small roles in sitcoms such as The Office, Entourage, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He made his film debut in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up, which is the break he had been waiting for. After that film, he abandoned his career as physician and pursued acting and comedy full time. His subsequent acting appearances have included hit films like Pineapple Express, Role Models, and Couples Retreat.
