For a country star like Josh Turner, it’s fitting his career highlights would center on the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville’s most iconic music venue. In 2001, that’s where Turner premiered his song “Long Black Train” to a standing ovation. The response was so overwhelming, in fact, that the crooner performed it again as an encore. Then, in 2007, after releasing two platinum-selling and chart-topping albums—Long Black Train and Your Man—Turner was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry’s “hall of fame” by Vince Gill and became the second youngest member. (The youngest is Carrie Underwood.)
In the years since his induction, Turner has released three more albums and been nominated for numerous Grammy and Country Music Association Awards. Then, in 2008, Turner set his sights on acting when he was cast in the Billy Graham biopic, Billy: The Early Years, which told the story of the legendary evangelist. The country renaissance man can also add ‘author’ to his resume because the inspirational country singer released his first book, Man Stuff, in April 2014. “It's a book full of life lessons, life stories, from my experiences, things I've learned throughout my life, mistakes I've made,” People Magazine’s “Hottest Dad in Country Music” said in an interview with USA Today. “People talk about songwriting being therapy, but, for me, it was great to not have to be hunched over a guitar or be trying to craft a melody along with the words. I just let the words flow and told stories.” ScoreBig lets you save on every Josh Turner ticket, every day.
