It is typical of artists to be inspired by the greats that had come before them. The same is true for Jon Pardi but he also adds his grandmother to the list of people who inspired him to become a musician. In an interview, this is what he said
“My grandmother was a big inspiration for me. I grew up listening to 90’s country so all those guys inspired me as well.”
Pardi was born in Dixon, California and he began to write his own songs when he was just twelve years old. By the time he was fourteen, Pardi had already formed his own band. After finishing high school, he teamed up with Chase McGrew and the two of them began to perform locally in bars and clubs around the city. They then re-located to Chico, California, to attend Butte College there and spent three years as members of the band, “Northern Comfort.”
Move to Nashville
Every aspiring country music star knows the importance of Nashville and Pardi was no different. So, in 2008 he shifted to Music City. Initially, he worked as a lifeguard to support himself financially. He was a very good songwriter and that helped him land a publishing deal just a year and a half later. That deal led to Pardi co-writing with established stars. At the same time, he began to perform too. It did not take long for record labels to come calling and Jon Pardi signed a deal with Capitol Records Nashville.
Jon Pardi began work on his first studio album and released the track Missin’ You Crazy in March of 2012. The track went to peak at the twenty fifth spot on the US Country Airplay chart and on the twenty ninth position on the US Hot Country Songs chart. He released three more singles Up All Night, What I Can’t Put Down and When I’ve Been Drinkin over the next few months.
The Studio Albums
These four tracks would become part of his debut album “Write You a Song” which hit the stores on January 14, 2014. The record did well with the critics. AllMusic gave it three and a half stars out of five while it received four stars out of five each from Digital Journal, Got Country Online and Roughstock. The album also went on to peak at the fourteenth spot on the US Billboard 200 and at the third position on the US Top Country Albums chart.
His next studio album was titled “California Sunshine” and it was released on June 17, 2016. It received three and a half stars from AllMusic and went on to debut at the top spot on the Top Country Albums chart. On the Billboard 200, the LP debuted at the eleventh position. The record has been certified gold in the United States.
