The Early Days
While growing up, Jon Bellion had two passions in life – Basketball and music. When the time came to pick one of these two as a career, he picked the latter. Needless to say, it has turned out to be a very good decision.
Inspired by names like Kanye West, The Black Keys, Coldplay, Eminem, John Mayer and Pharrell Williams, Bellion used Facebook to release his debut mixtape “Scattered Thoughts Vol. 1” in 2011. It was downloaded more than eleven thousand times. A year later, he signed with Visionary Music Group and proceeded to come out with a cover version of the Drake track “The Motto” on the label’s YouTube page.
Jon Bellion: The Impact Maker
Bellion then penned down the chorus of the track The Monster by Eminem and Rihanna. The song turned out to be a massive hit and won a Grammy for the “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.” Bellion then went on his first headlining tour, titled “The Beautiful Mind Tour” in October of 2014.
He spent the early part of the year 2015 releasing multiple singles. In March of the same year, he announced that he will be going on his second tour, which was named “The Definition Tour.”
Jon Bellion released the track All Time Low on May 13, 2016 and it peaked at the tenth spot on the US Mainstream Top 40. The song also went as high as the sixteenth spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 and to the twenty seventh position on the US Adult Top 40. All Time Low charted in many countries. It was certified double platinum in the US and Australia. It has also earned platinum certifications in Canada and New Zealand.
The time had come for him to release his first album and “The Human Condition” duly arrived on June 10, 2016. It went to the fifth spot on the Billboard 200 on its debut. It also went to the second spot on the US Vinyl Albums. The Human Condition also charted in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, UK, Sweden, Ireland and Denmark. The record has been certified gold by the RIAA.
