Cheered by full houses in Chicago and on tour in Los Angeles, The Art of Falling’s improvised scenes, hilarious musical numbers, and surprising vignettes — paired with stunning choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo, Robyn Mineko Williams and others — will remind you to let go, and to dance through life and love.
Helmed by Jeff Award–winning director Billy Bungeroth (The Second City Guide to the Opera), The Art of Falling features six actors plus 24 dancers from both of Hubbard Street’s ensembles, in twenty scenes combining contemporary dance with The Second City’s signature take on sketch comedy, and memorable movement to music ranging from David Bowie and Chris Isaak, to Arvo Pärt and Erik Satie, to Tchaikovsky and The Who. Three main storylines in The Art of Falling are braided around themes of risk-taking, and the countless daily leaps of faith which ultimately make life worth living.
“It’s hard to imagine a more seamless marriage,” says Time Out Chicago. “★★★★★.”
