Hawthorne Heights is a band that has managed to do what many bands can only dream of: stay relevant for over a decade. Since getting together in 2001, Hawthorne Heights (originally known as “A Day in the Life,” the band chose to change its name to Hawthorne Heights soon after forming in honor of the famous author Nathaniel Hawthorne) has been one of the most popular independent rock groups in the country.
Hitting the Scene
Their first full-length album, The Silence in Black and White, was released in 2004. And after receiving unexpected radio play and getting the music video for the single “Ohio Is for Lovers” featured on MTV, the band’s album climbed all the way to #56 on the Billboard 200 chart—an incredible achievement for a band not backed by a major record label.
From that point on, Hawthorne Heights would only continue to grow in popularity. Their follow-up album If Only You Were Lonely outperformed their debut, soaring all the way to #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In the years following the release of If Only You Were Lonely, Hawthorne Heights continued to create new music for their fans. Both Fragile Future, their third full-length album, and Rhapsody Originals, a shorter EP, were released in 2008, and 2010 was marked by the release of Skeletons, their fourth studio album (which hit #50 on the Billboard 200), and Midwesterners: The Hits, the band’s first “best-of” compilation. Two more EPs were to follow in 2011 and 2012, and there’s no telling if this great band will ever slow down.
