Electronic music has unofficially become the sound of an entire generation. Pulsing synthesizers, dubstep’s hypnotizing beats, and clubs packed with unwinding 20-somethings has made its sound virtually inescapable.
Flux Pavilion (whose real name is Joshua Steele) is an engineer of this revolution. After co-founding Circus Records, the young DJ splashed onto the world’s most popular scene with the hit song “Bass Cannon” in 2011.
The First Stage of Greatness
A few months after the launch of “Bass Cannon,” Flux Pavilion released the song “I Can’t Stop,” which was famously sampled on Kanye West and Jay-Z’s monster album Watch the Throne. Flux Pavilion was recognized by greatness, and his debut two-disc album Flux Favilion was deservedly praised for its magnanimous sound and skyscraping ambition.
In early 2013, he released his first recorded work since that album: an EP titled Blow the Roof that could propel Flux Pavilion further towards becoming one of electronic music’s biggest acts.
After “Bass Cannon,” Flux Pavilion released two more songs that have charted well: “Superbad” with Doctor P and “Daydreamer” featuring Example. Both hit top 10 on the UK Dance Chart and top 70 on the overall UK music chart.

At the end of 2011, he was nominated for a Sound of 2012 award by the BBC, cementing his position as an up-and-coming musician and raising his legitimacy as an artistic prodigy in the world of electronic music.
