Excision is in a league of his own when it comes to electronic music producers and DJs. His music has transcended boundaries of genres and has taken a form of its own. What makes Excision so special is his ability to fuse different genres and sounds together to come up with his signature bass-heavy music.
He has been making fans dance to his sound for over a decade now and he isn’t showing any signs of taking his foot off the pedal any time soon. He is now on tour and will be on the road for the remainder of 2017 and well into 2018. He won’t be headlining those shows alone though. The Early Days
Born, Jeff Abel, Excision heard “The Fat of the Land” by Prodigy and he was immediately hooked to electronic music. The genre was something new to him and he was super excited to hear it. It was however in the year 2005 that he heard the record “Degenerate” by Vex’d. That album opened his eyes to the real potential of electronic music and dubstep.
That was when he decided to drop out of the University of British Columbia to focus on becoming an electronic music producer. He began to spend twelve hours a day to hone his skills, but failed to meet any DJs. Then, in 2007, he went on a tour and that is when he began to meet more DJs.
The Breakthrough Comes At Last
Excision released few tracks through his own label, Rottun Recordings, at the end of 2000s. He needed a bigger platform to show his talents and that is why he signed with Mau5trap to release his debut record. The title of his first album was “X Rated” and it hit the music stores on October 10, 2011. The record featured appearances by Mr. Hudson, Datsik and Downlink and it played a big part in announcing Excision’s arrival into mainstream electronic music.
Excision, then went on the “X Tour” and began to perform live regularly from that point onwards. He then hit the road for a tour of North America in 2014 and the next year he came out with his second album “Codename X.” The record was more intense in terms of its music and went to the third spot on the Billboard Dance\Electronic Albums chart on its debut.
