The Beginning
Cole Swindell was born on June 30, 1983, in Bronwood, Georgia. He studied at the Georgia Southern University where he met Luke Bryan. The two future country stars used to perform together as part of the Sigma Chi fraternity at the university. When Bryan decided to move to Nashville, Swindell followed suit. He left the university in 2007 and moved to the Music City where he spent three years running the merchandise for Luke Bryan, promoting his albums, by selling Luke Bryan shirts, etc.
The Songwriter
A gifted songwriter, Cole Swindell signed a contract with the Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2010 following which he wrote numerous hits for well-known music artists. Among his many contributions as a songwriter are Get Me Some of That by Thomas Rhett, Outta My Head by Craig Campbell and Just a Sip and I’m Hungover for his dear friend Luke Bryan. Swindell and Bryan share writing credits on one of the biggest hits of Florida Georgia Line, This is How We Roll. With all these top hits, Swindell carved his niche in the industry as a songwriter within no time.
The Singer
Cole Swindell made his singing debut with the single Chillin It in 2013. The song received heavy airplay on radio and earned Swindell enough attention to be signed by Warner Nashville towards the end of the year.
His self-titled debut music album was hence released by the label in February of 2014. With Chillin It as the lead single, the record debuted at the third spot on the Billboard 200, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release. Besides Chillin It, the record spawned hits such as Ain’t Worth the Whiskey and Hope You Get a Lonely Night.
In November, 2014, Swindell treated his fans with a five-song EP, Down Home Sessions. It ranked eighth on the Top Country Albums chart.
The country singer’s second studio record You Should Be Here hit the shelves in May of 2016. Its lead single and title track preceded the release of the album and became a massive hit. Written by Ashley Gorley, it topped the Country Airplay as well as the Hot Country Songs chart of Billboard magazine. The album itself reached the top ten on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. As of September 2017, its sales have exceeded 290,000 copies.
