Circles Around The Sun History
Circles Around The Sun is an instrumental band that was formed in 2015, originally as a project to create music for the intermissions of the Grateful Dead's 50th-anniversary concert. The band's unique sound blends elements of psychedelic rock, jam band improvisation, and ambient music, which has captivated audiences across the U.S. and beyond. Their debut album, 'Interludes for the Dead,' was released in 2018, featuring tracks that reflect their improvisational roots and the spirit of the Grateful Dead's music. The band has since gained a dedicated following, characterized by their immersive live performances that often feature extended jams and spontaneous compositions. Members include guitarist Neal Casal, who was previously affiliated with bands like The Chris Robinson Brotherhood and The Black Crowes, along with Adam MacDougall on keyboards, Dan Horne on bass, and Mark Levy on drums. Tragically, Neal Casal passed away in 2019, but the band has continued to honor his legacy by performing and creating new music, showcasing the depth of their collective talent and the evolution of their sound.
