About Chris Stapleton
Chris Stapleton entered the music industry as a song writer and later became a performer. The big-bearded Kentucky artist made headlines with several big hits as a song-writer.
Though he was a part of the music industry for more than a decade writing songs, it was with his debut album Traveller he hit the mainstream.
The album marked a new beginning for Stapleton. It received overwhelming critical acclaim and became a number one, double-platinum–certified album. In 2016, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
After Traveller, Stapleton dropped his second studio album, From A Room: Volume 1. In May 2017 and also announced his amphitheater- headlining All-American Road Show trek. A few stops of the summer-long trek had to be postponed because Stapleton suffered a hand injury that prevented him from playing the guitar. But after some recuperating, the award-winning artist is back on the road.
So get All American Road Show tickets for his upcoming performances if you haven’t already and catch this country music star in action.
Early Life of Chris Stapleton
Though Chris Stapleton didn’t have a music background, yet he was always attracted to it from early age. Stapleton was born to a family of coal miners so he became what he is only due to sheer hard work and continuous pursuit of his dreams. The singer gives credit to his parents for encouraging him to do what he wanted to do.
“We were always told that we could be anything we wanted to be as long as we worked hard at it and kept our head down and believed in it.”
That is what he did. He was studying engineering in Vanderbilt University when after a year the east Kentucky native decided to drop out to move to Nashville. The move proved to be a life-changing decision for Stapleton.
Beginnings
Stapleton was lucky to get a publishing deal only after four days of his move to Nashville. He entered the music industry in 2001 as a song writer. Stapleton had a talent for composing beautiful melodies and soon found himself writing chart-topping singles for well-known artists.
He wrote hit songs for Brad Paisley, George Strait, Adele, Dierks Bentley, Peter Frampton, Vince Gill and Tim McGraw. Singles like “Drink a Beer” by Luke Bryan, “Your Many” by Josh Turner and “Never Wanted Nothing More” by Kenney Chesney were penned by Stapleton.
After his successful stint as a songwriter, Stapleton decided to become a performer. This led him to become the lead singer of the country band, Steel Drivers in 2008. With the band, the acclaimed musician released two albums and two Grammy nominated songs. He left them in 2010 to form his own band The Jompson Brothers with whom he released one album before he decided to go solo.
Chris Goes Solo with “Traveller” – The Big Breakthrough
In May 2015, Stapleton released his double-platinum debut album “Traveller”. It became the best selling Country album of 2016 and the fourth- highest selling album of 2016 across all genres. This change introduced his true talent to the world.
Not many know that his father’s death in 2013 inspired him to write his debut solo album. The breakthrough album was a big hit and not only did it receive acclaim from critics but also won the Album of the Year Award at the CMA Awards. It debuted at number two on the Billboard Country Albums chart. On the 49th Annual CMA Awards Stapleton had the distinction to become the first artist to win Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year award. “Traveller” won multiple Grammy and ACM Awards as well.
Soon after the release the critics found it hard to bracket his music into a single genre. It varied from country to rock, soul and blues. Stapleton himself doesn’t want his music to be boxed either. His musical philosophy is simple.
"It doesn't matter. If you like it, listen to it. Those are the only real standards I have for music,”
Ongoing Work and Tour
On May 5, 2017, the country star released his most recent effort, his second album titled, “From A Room: Volume 1”. The album landed on number two on the Billboard 200. There are already talks of “From A Room, Volume 2” release but no official date has been announced as yet.
For now the singer is busy with his All American Road Show produced by Live Nation that is taking him to cities across the country. Joining him on select dates are special guests Brothers Osborne, Lucie Silvas, Margo Price and more. Brent Cobb and Marty Stuart are also expected to join the singer in the upcoming concerts. Stapleton is performing to jam-packed venues and giving sold out performances everywhere. Fans can expect to listen to songs from his two albums, some covers as well as some fresh songs.
