Sporting Park
Sporting Park holds something of a Trifecta under its belt: hosted three of the most prestigious soccer matches in the entire United States, the MLS All-Star Game, the United States men's national soccer team, and the MLS Cup all in one year.
This modern soccer-specific outdoor stadium is located in Kansas City, Kansas. Since it first opened in 2011, this stadium has hosted many major events. It is the home field to Major League Soccer's Sporting KC. Although it is still a relatively new venue, this stadium has earned its reputation as one of the best places to see a soccer game in the country. Additionally, this stadium has also hosted a number of major concerts. During concerts, the stadium's capacity is able to increase from 18,467 seats to 25,000. Sporting Park has hosted music events with major names like Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and Tool.
When it comes to soccer-specific stadiums, Sporting Park is truly a step above the rest. Boasting many modern features and amenities, seeing a soccer game or concert here is truly a memorable experience. When you enter the stadium, you will notice the high-definition lighting, immaculate video board, and the solar-friendly roof that will keep every seat in the stadium dry if it should rain. The stadium is designed to be expandable in the future, so this is definitely a venue to keep an eye on!
This venue has earned a number of awards, including winning the 2012 “Venue of the Year Award” and “Community Award” at TheStadiumBusiness Awards in 2012. It was also one of the four finalists for “Sports Facility of the Year” in the 2012 Sports Business Awards from Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily. To top it all off, Sporting Park was one out of eight finalists for “New Venue Award” at TheStadiumBusiness Awards in 2012.
