When you think of musicals on Broadway, Chicago is always one of the first that comes to mind. With six Tony Awards and a Grammy, the show is still loved by Broadway fans young and old. It’s no surprise then that the Associated Press describes the production, which opened in November 1996, “as entertaining as ever, brash, buoyant, and utterly irresistible.” If you’re looking for Chicago Tickets on Broadway, ScoreBig lets you save on every ticket, every day.
Chicago describes itself perfectly; “murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery - all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts.” That actual line from Chicago on Broadway truly says it all. You’ve got all of those nuances, and more, in one 2.5 hour show. You’ll be entrenched in the endless excitement, and suspense, as you follow Velma Kelly, Roxie Hart, and Billy Flynn. It’s a classic tale of fame, fortune, and the tribulations that come along with it.
First off, you know you’re in for some jaw-dropping dance moves with Bob Fosse heading up choreography. The lead, Roxie Hart, is played by the beautiful Bianca Marroquin. Marroquin rose to fame in Mexico as she starred in Mexico City productions of Beauty and The Beast, Rent, The Vagina Diaglogues, and more. Velma Kelly is played by Amra-Faye Wright, who, among other accomplishments, performed as Velma entirely in Japanese in a show abroad. Billy Flynn, another one of the protagonists of the production, is played by Brent Barrett.
Chicago is now playing on Broadway at the Ambassador Theatre, located at 219 West 49th Street. The Ambassador is another Broadway Theatre that was designated as a New York City Landmark. While normal looking from the street, the Ambassador Theatre, from the interior, is far from ordinary. To fit as many seats as possible, the architects designed the theatre diaganolly, making for a very unique viewing experience.
2 hours, 30 minutes, with one intermission.
