Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, professionally known as Camila Cabello, was born on March 3, 1997 in Eastern Havana, Cuba. She and her family moved to Miami, Florida when Cabello was five years old. Growing up in a Spanish-speaking environment influenced her passion for Latin styled music. When she was only fifteen years old, Cabello auditioned for The X Factor in North Carolina. She was eliminated from the show but Simon Cowell brought her back along with four other female singers to combine for the group Fifth Harmony. Fifth Harmony finished the show in third place but went on to be the most successful contestant from the show that season. They signed a joint deal with Syco Music and Epic Records. With their newly acquired record deal the group released their first EP, Better Together, in October 2013. In early 2015, the group released their first studio album called Reflection. Reflection featured the hits “Sledgehammer” (written by Meghan Trainor) and “Worth It” (feat. Kid Ink). “Worth It” peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became certified 3X Platinum by the RIAA. At the end of 2016, Cabello announced she would be leaving Fifth Harmony to focus on her solo career.

The first sing of Cabello going solo was when she wrote a song with Shawn Mendes titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. The duet peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her next work, separate from Fifth Harmony, was “Bad Things” along with rapper Machine Gun Kelly. “Bad Things” peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became certified 2X Platinum by the RIAA. Following her collaborations on these two tracks is when Cabello left Fifth Harmony. After leaving the group, Cabello worked with DJ Cashmere Cat on the track “Love Incredible”. Then Cabello was featured on another track called “Hey Ma” with J Balvin and Pitbull. In 2017 she was on the track “Know No Better” with Major Lazer, Travis Scott, and Quavo. Shortly after, Cabello released her first solo single called “Crying in the Club”. All the songs she was releasing as a solo artist landed her the spot as the opening act for Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic World Tour. On August 3, 2017 Cabello released “Havana” (feat. Young Thug) and “OMG” as promotional singles for her debut album. “Havana” became an international hit, peaking at number 1 on charts across the world, including the United States. The track generated a lot of buzz for the young artist, which made the debut of her studio album so successful. The album, self titled Camila, dropped on January 12, 2018 and debuted at number 1 on the the Billboard 200. Camila is already certified Platinum by the RIAA.
