Born in Glen Dale, West Virginia, on October 28, 1972, Brad Douglas Paisley discovered his passion for music when his grandfather gifted him a guitar at the age of eight. By the time he was twelve, Paisley was taking part in church choirs and civic meetings. Soon he began performing as part of a band and also started to write his own material.
