Early Life and Career
Daniel was born in October 1980, Fabian in July 1984 and Alejandro in October 1986. All three brothers attended Pine View High School, Osprey, Florida, where Alejandro got involved in singing in the choir. He was named Mr. Pine View. Daniel, who graduated from Harvard Law School, moved back to Florida and joined his brothers, who were both completing their degrees at the University of Florida. Here, the brothers continued to write music and perform at local venues.
The three youngsters first came together as a band in 2004, with Alejandro on lead vocals, piano and guitars, Fabian on guitar and vocals and the eldest brother Daniel on bass, vocals and percussion.
On 2007, the band decided to make videos of their recordings and post them on YouTube. Some of the earlier materials were songs by the band, while some were covers of their favorite songs. Their earlier videos of famous covers include Justin Timberlake’s “LoveStoned”, Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella”.
Performances and Greater Fan Following
Soon after launching their YouTube channel, the band gave its debut performance in New York City. For this purpose, in January 2009, they booked a stand-alone show in the city, which was completely sold out. It also received a highly positive response from the critics. Since then, the band has had extensive tours all over the world with a similar result. Four of their headline shows in Philippines saw them perform in front of an impressive audience of 25,000 fans. After receiving such a positive response from the international audiences, Boyce Avenue performed in Australia, US, Canada, Indonesia and Europe. While producing material for YouTube, the band continued to work on their debut album, All You’re Meant to Be. This album was eventually released on 3rd March 2008. In January of 2010, the band finally signed on to a major record label, Universal Republic. They released their first album under the label, All We Have Left in June of 2010. All We Have Left contained some reworked tracks from All You’re Meant to Be, along with some new work. The first single off of this album, “Every Breath” was released in March, 2010 and was very well received by fans and critics.
After parting ways with Universal Republic, Boyce Avenue continued to release music through their own label, 3 Peace Records.
More Success and Achievements
As the success of the trio continued, Boyce Avenue also got a chance to work on the American version of The X Factor as vocal coach in 2012. In May 2013, they announced a world tour which saw them give successful performances in Canada, US, Ireland and UK. By the end of August, the band’s fame had hit new heights, with an impressive 4 million subscribers on YouTube and more than 1 billion views. These numbers made the trio the fourth most popular band on the website.
The band continued to work on new music and released their first live album called Live in Los Angeles. They continued to perform all over the world and their first ever performances in Spain – one in Madrid and the other in Barcelona, both sold out completely.
The group has been on the steady road to success ever since their formation. In 2014 and 2016, they were nominated for two Teen Choice Awards for the Choice Web Star: Music category. They were also nominated for the Unsigned Music Awards: UMA Icons Awards in 2016, which they won.
