The Formative Years
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Billy Currington made the move to Nashville after finishing high school to kick-start his country music journey. That did not last for long but Currington never gave up and returned to the Music City a while later. This time he found a job in a concrete company and that gave him the foundation to start performing in small clubs on the side.
Not only that, but he also began to work as a personal trainer. A client of his helped him record a few demo tapes and write songs. His struggle paid off in the year 2003 and he signed a recording contract with Mercury Records.

Billy Currington released his debut self-titled album on September 30, 2003.
