Whether it is legends of days gone by, Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds and Jackie Robinson or contemporary heroes such as Mike Trout, Clayton Kershaw and Manny Machado – baseball has had its share of star power over the years. The game initially came out of a 1744 British publication, which talked about a game similar to modern day baseball. Various instances of the game were recorded by different individuals in history. By the early 1830s, the game had evolved into “town ball” – a name given by the locals to the game played with a base-ball.
It was eventually in the 1850s, when the game’s craze struck New York and by 1856, news agencies were referring to it as the “national pastime”. Within a year, sixteen clubs joined together to form the National Association of Base Ball Players. And the official baseball games began soon.
