It’s taken almost 10 years for Amy Schumer to become an overnight comic sensation. Born and bred in Long Island, the brassy blonde has been performing stand-up since graduating college and moving to New York City soon thereafter. She taped her first Comedy Central special, Live At Gotham, in 2007 but many credit her appearance on Last Comic Standing later that year as her first real break. (She placed fourth on the series’ fifth season. Womp womp.) From there, Schumer—who was becoming known for her frank and often-hilarious observations on love, sex and relationships—appeared on loads of different TV shows, like 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Hoppus On Music, which she co-hosted on Fuse alongside Blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus.
After memorable (and very dirty) sets on Comedy Central roasts of Charlie Sheen and Rosanne Barr, the comedienne was given her own sketch-comedy show on the network called, appropriately enough, Inside Amy Schumer. Recently renewed for a third season, the series was just nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award. While fans eagerly await Season 3 of Inside Amy Schumer, they can catch all her potty-mouthed magnificence while she’s traveling the country with her Back Door Tour.
