Being a mix of all kinds of music that does not fit in any other genre, alternative rock music has been popularized by bands such as R.E.M., Nirvana, Creed, Matchbox Twenty and Radiohead. Falling under this label, the genre draws its fame from a multitude of music types, including grunge, indie rock, Britpop, post-grunge, post-rock and others.
Alternative rock is the perfect music to jam out to if you have a lot of pent-up anger and need to let loose. Descended from the punk rock scene of the 1970s, alternative rocks projects a defiant attitude and fuels that angsty fire that flames on in the heart of fans everywhere. This music turns rock music on its head, bringing a little bit of edginess to the classic genre. The whiny, nasally pop-punk voices blare out over a sea of jumping fans, eager to belt out the lyrics of their favorite tune. It’s not uncommon to see a bra or ten tossed up onto the stage for the band members to display prominently on their microphone stands. After all, quite a large number of the audience tends to attend not only for the music but also to catch a glimpse of whichever performer whose poster they have draped all over their bedroom walls. Alternative rock’s typical distorted sound functions as a reminder of how it got its name; as a moniker for underground and lesser-known rockers who still received mainstream recognition. Since then, it has evolved into a massive genre boasting many world-renowned bands with legions of fans. If you want to vent frustration or just rock out, alternative rock tickets are just what you need.
