Kicking Off His Journey
Martin Alexander Aiono is the birth name of Alex Aiono who was born on February 16, 1996. He is of Maori & Samoan descent and was brought up in a working class family. Aiono began his musical journey when he moved to Los Angeles in 2012. While in his teens, he started to hone his vocal skills by jamming at homes and singing in churches along with his father. He then developed interest in different instruments and went on to learn guitar, drums, piano, ukulele and bass. During this time, he created his YouTube channel and uploaded videos of him singing cover songs of popular stars. Aiono also started to busk around Santa Monica and was later offered to open for the California based pop rock quintet, R5.
In 2013, Alex Aiono hit it big when he was selected to open for one of the biggest pop groups, Backstreet Boys. This brought him a lot of needed exposure and a platform to establish himself as a successful singer. In the same year, he dropped his first original track, Alphabet Song which turned out to be a big hit. It rocked the airwaves and the fans soon began to demand more music from him. 2014 got off to a great start for Alex Aiono as he was selected to feature as Sebastian in the AwesomenessTV’s critically acclaimed show, ‘The Royal Crush.’ Besides starring in that series, he kept on posting his videos on YouTube which allowed him to extend his popularity in other parts of the world. On November 20, 2015, Aiono came out with his second extended play titled, ‘Alexmas.’ It was his first holiday EP which contained five songs, Lil Wayne Tree, Up on the Bells, Christmas in California, Joy to the Angles and Deck the Halls. Following the release of ‘Alexmas,’ he shifted his focus towards music production and stated,

Alex Aiono found his inspiration from prolific producers, including Timbaland and Pharrell Williams and put out his mashup of Drake’s, One Dance and Nicky Jam’s, Hasta el Amanecer on April 15, 2016. It went viral and crossed sixty million views on YouTube. He was then approached by French DJ, Feder who asked him to feature on his song, Lordly. He accepted and the track landed at the tenth spot in France. It was also used as a theme song of the 2017 World Men’s Handball Championship. This encouraged Aiono to work on more music and a year later, he spawned his single, Work the Middle. Produced by Dernst Emile II and Axident, the song showcased his vocal capabilities and was approved by the fans.

He then released another song called, Hot2Touch in collaboration with Hight and Felix Jaehn which became a club banger in the European countries. After that, he will make his way to Chicago where The Streamy Awards nominated singer-songwriter will play his second gig at the Lincoln Hall.
