American actor Courtney Rhodes Reed continues to play Princess Jasmine in the musical while the characters of Genie and Jafar are brought to life on stage by actors Major Attaway and Jonathan Freeman respectively.
Music-Aladdin the musical comprises a mix of songs; some that were specifically written for the play and some which were taken from the 1992 movie and later restored for the musical.
For example ‘Proud of Your Boy’ is one song that was cut from the movie when the part about Aladdin’s mother was taken out. Fortunately, the track received the much deserved attention and appreciation following its presentation in the Disney theatrical production of Aladdin.
Other popular songs in the musical are ‘Overture,’ ‘One Jump Ahead’ and ‘Arabian Nights.’ The music score for all songs is by Alan Menken; however the lyricists for different numbers vary.
Producer- The show is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP), a division of Disney Theatrical Group which operates under Thomas Schumacher. Founded in 1993, it is one of the most successful commercial theatre enterprises in the world.
Under the Disney Theatrical Productions banner, the group has produced and licensed several Broadway productions, starting from Beauty and the Beast back in 1994 to Aladdin in 2014.
The shows brought together by this group have enjoyed an audience of over nineteen million in more than fifty different countries.
