“I look to her for the way that she's dealt with fame and everything like that. I actually do look up to her a lot. She still comes across as so normal which is what I would like to come across as and also the honesty in her music remained through her second album and that's something that I'm really passionate about keeping.”
Adele is now ready to perform live. To watch her captivate you with her exceptional vocal skills, you have to grab your Adele concert tickets now.
Early Life & Influences
The English singer-songwriter, Adele found great inspiration from Spice Girls and stated, “They made me what I am today." Other than the popular all-girl group, she is said to be inspired by Celine Dion, The Cure, Annie Lennox, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child. Moreover, Adele has also credited Amy Winehouse and her Ivor Novello Award winning album, ‘Frank’ for encouraging her to pick up the guitar. She stated,
“If it wasn't for Amy and Frank, one hundred per cent I wouldn't have picked up a guitar, I wouldn't have written "Daydreamer" or "Hometown [Glory]" and I wrote "Someone Like You" on the guitar too."
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins or Adele was born in London, England. She started singing at the age of four and soon she fell in love with music. Adele completed her education from the BRIT School of Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon where she was classmates with two platinum recording artists, Jessie J and Leona Lewis.
In 2006, Adele recorded a demo of three songs for a class project and later gave it to a friend. Impressed by her work, her friend decided to upload the demo on Myspace where it caught the attention of Richard Russell, the founder of XL Records. He signed her to the record label in September of 2006.
Breakthrough & Recognition
In 2007, Adele released her first song as a recording artist titled, Hometown Glory. It was awarded gold certification in the United Kingdom and Canada. The song became a major hit and music fans started to anticipate the release of her debut record. One year later, Adele’s debut studio album, ‘19’ hit the stores.
This studio effort made her a huge soul sensation instantly. It achieved multi-platinum record sales in Australia, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States. Moreover, it also spawned a single, Chasing Pavements, which earned her one Grammy Award out of three nominations in ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’ category. The record debuted at the fourth spot on the Billboard 200 and received four stars out of five from AllMusic.
If she didn’t already set the bar high with the release of her first studio album, ‘19’, Adele’s second album, ‘21’ changed the dimension of soul music forever. It became a number-one hit in most parts of the world. The record received the nomination for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize in 2011. In addition, it also won seven Grammys in a variety of categories, including ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ and ‘Album of the Year.’ Plus, many publications including, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Associated Press and USA Today included the album in their list of the ‘Best Album of the Year.’
Adele’s second album also established a number of Guinness World Records including, ‘Biggest-Selling Digital Album in the US’ and ‘Most Cumulative Weeks with UK No.1 Album by a Solo Female.’ ‘21’ was also included in the book, ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.’ The record also gave a highly popular single, Rolling in the Deep, which was named by Time Magazine as one of the ‘Top Ten Songs of 2011.’ The song also appeared in a number of television series including, ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Gossip Girl’ ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager.’
Adele’s popularity has skyrocketed after ‘21’. She has been ranked at the fifth spot on VH1’s list of the ‘100 Greatest Women in Music.’ Adele was also labeled as one of the most ‘Influential People in the World’ twice by Time Magazine in 2012 and 2016. This exceptionally talented songstress also recorded a track, Skyfall, which featured in the James Bond movie of the same name. It received an Academy Award for ‘Best Original Song’ in 2013.

So far, Adele has recorded three groundbreaking studio albums. Her third record, ‘25’ came out on November 20, 2015.
